JEEP HISTORY
My stepfather is a Jeep guy. He drove a
4.0 XJ for a long time. That truck was
the first Jeep I ever drove. He sold it
when it passed 300k and bought a diesel
Liberty, which he still has. That truck
is at least 5 years old now (2010).
November 2010, I bought a 2001 Jeep
Wrangler TJ. It's yellow, has the 4.0 and
a 5 speed. It is otherwise stock. I
needed a 4x4 for living in the mountains.
I picked the Jeep because of its
reputation for reliability. I've driven
it twice, and I'm already in
love. UPDATE: That was written in early
December 2010. It is now April 2011, and
my Jeep has taken me through a winter as a
ski instructor. It's been totally
reliable, and completely awesome. It's a
monster on snow and ice and entirely too
much fun to drive in low traction
conditions. I'm never selling this
truck. I'm also not planning any
upgrades. It's a 4.0 Sport that was
optioned out. It has Dana 44 rear with
Tracklok. It also has the Canyon rims
with 30" tires. My first thoughts
for upgrades on any Jeep I purchased were
upgraded axles with an LSD in the back and
oversized tires. (Yeah, I got pretty
excited each time I looked up part
numbers.) It's a beast in stock form, and
I just feel it would be wrong to mess with
that.
