JEEP HISTORY
The Super Cheeto is in the works. AS you
can see by the profile pic there have been
some minor changes to this TJ. Jeep
Safari has come and gone! We had a great
time with all of the vendors and
appreciate Danny for providing a great
venue for all of us to get together. This
was the sixthth year I have helped run
vendor relations for the Red Rock Four
wheelers at the show. It was also the 23nd
year my family has helped lead and guide
enthusiasts during the Jeep Safari. I cant
wait to be back in October with Sundays
Rock. This Jeep is an every day vehicle
that can perform to the extreme. In 2009
we drove it to Las Vegas. It was a feature
vehicle in the S.E.M.A. auto show. We
enjoyed the show and met a lot of the
greats in the automotive after market
industry. Let's go back to the beginning
for a moment if you will. I grew up
wheelin in a 1979 International Scout II.
At 8 months old I had already been over
Cinnamon, Engineer, Black Bear, Imagine,
and quite a few more passes. I cant list
them all because every summer was spent
camping in Silverton. These passes are
located in the San Juan Mountains between
Silverton, Telluride, and Lake City
Colorado. Of course as this vehicle got
older and the sport changed we had to
modify, fix or re-engineer parts for the
Scout. New vehicles came out including
Jeep vehicles that were capable of doing
what we liked to do. My mom lost interest
in the Scout and in 1991 she bought a 1989
Jeep Cherokee. At the time it was at the
top. It was our first to have a CD player.
This system was unique 14 speakers pushed
by five amps a 10 disc CD player in the
rear and a single CD controller up front.
The system was all supplied by Kenwood. We
had dual batteries with an isolator
switch. The stuff that really counted was
the Dana 44s with ARB Air Lockers with
4.56 gears. The transmission had the 1st
gear lock out switch wired in. It helps a
lot when you need a super low gear! Trail
Master had a 3 1/2" lift for it. Mom
has always run 32/12.50 BFG All Terrains.
We still have the ol scout stored for a
project and mom still leads Jeep safari
trails and Jeep Jamboree trails in it to
this day. Mom was notorious for kicking my
dad out and taking the wheel. He loved to
show people what a jeep could do. We were
always teaching people to drive with
finesse. He enjoyed taking people to
indian ruins and old mines. The stories
and history would come along with every
run and everyone would hang around to
listen. Unfortunately we lost dad in 2005
due to pseudo-monas pneumonia contracted
at Marco Island. They got back and in less
than a day he was gone. Of course mom kept
us wheelin. She took on our current trails
we were leading and even picked up a Big
Saturday trail for Jeep Safari. Its pretty
neat mom leads, my sister mid-guns, and I
tail-gun. Our family has been leading and
gunning on trails since the mid 80s. We
have always helped with the Moab Jeep
Safari. I my self gun, help run
registration, and also help run the vendor
show. When my help is needed I also help
the BLM with traffic control and trail
monitoring. We also help out and lead
Jeep Jamboree runs. Almost every Sunday I
lead and or help guide a group called
Sundays Rock. Our group invites anyone to
get in touch and come see Choke Cherry
Canyon in Farmington, NM. This year will
my families Twenty third year to attend
Jeep Safari in Moab. The cheeto has been
with us in Moab for the past four years
working hard. We are members of the
Farmington Cliff Hangers, The Red Rock 4
Wheelers, The Creeper Jeepers, SWFDA,
Sundays Rock, Tread Lightly, and United
Four Wheel Drive Association. You can
contact me at offagain4x4@gmail.com. Rick

It was really fun, the snow made it interesting. It's always fun to use alot of skinny pedal. Wheeling on Sunday? I think I can make it down this week, let me know if you plan on going.

I'd love to but I'm leaving for Moab this morning. I mentioned it to Cody, but I don't think you got the message. It's short notice but come on out to Moab if your interested, I'll be there until Sunday afternoon.
