JEEP HISTORY
I was talking to a buddy of mine that had
a Jeep and he told me he had this Jeep for
sale and it ran great. I said I wold look
at it and we took it for a drove and I
fell in love with the whole Jeep thing
right away and bought it. I drove it for a
while that summer then put it away as it
needed alot of body work into my shop and
took it apart. I replaced the sides,
fenders, back corners and floor pans in
front. Once I was done I was wondering how
to finish it off. So I decided to purchase
the bed liner paint and I rolled the
entire Jeep inside and out. It's the best
thing ever because you can drag through
the bushes and not worry about scratches
etc. Great stuff. Then I purchased new
tires and rims and lifted it 7". I
then placed 4:88 gears into both axles and
bought Detroit lockers too. WOW does this
thing climb. You don't need alot of
horsepower just have it geared properly.
Years later I bought a new soft top and
soft doors and new front bumper. Still to
go is the back bumper, spare-tire rack,
winch and other goodies. It's like
building a model lots of fun. I have a
1989 Jeep YJ put away that I'm going to
rebuild also soon for my son. My wife
calls this my middle age toy. I absolutely
love it and have a great time in it.
