My first Jeep was a '95 Sahara Wrangler,
bought in stock condition in '99 while a
freshman at NC State. Added 2.5"
lift, 31" BFGs, Hellas, rocker
bars/steps, lots of misc stuff. That Jeep
became a part of me through lots of mud,
rain storms (with no top, no doors, haha),
countless miles, and a couple of pulls out
of something I shouldn't have tried.
Unfortunately it had to go when the first
baby came after college. (growing up is
rough!)
I revived my Jeep soul (and
regressed on the growing up thing) when I
bought my current '78 CJ7. Just after
turning 30, I took the plunge and never
plan to be without a jeep again. Guess my
mid-life crisis came early. Always wanted
a CJ, and I finally arrived... Been
working on it ever since. More hours under
it than in it!! Re-built both axles,
putting locker in the front, solid axles
in the back. New brakes all around,
updated the lift, and tried to un-do all
the knuckle-head things the PO did (that
will be a never-ending process). It seems
like everytime I fix something wrong, I
create a new problem (two wrongs do make a
right sometimes on a Jeep). Gotta love
customization.
