JEEP HISTORY
I drove old beat up and resurrected
Hyundai Accents for years (8 or 9). A
couple days before Thanksgiving in 2012 I
totaled the car in an accident. After six
months borrowing my wife's car while she
used the family monster (Ford Excursion w/
a V10) I'd had enough. I needed my own
vehicle again. I decided that I wanted
something fun to drive. It didn't have to
be economical or practical, just fun
(okay, more economical than the Excursion,
60 - 100 miles a day adds up on the fuel
bill). One of my cousins has owned Jeeps
for years. We have lots of great memories
of hunting trips in his Jeeps. He has an
old CJ5 that's been left for dead and he
offered it to me for nothing. This is
my first ownership of a Jeep (the closest
I've come is an AMC Eagle w/ the 258).
It's a fix 'er up project. I planned to
get it running with the intent of using it
as a daily driver. It didn't take me long
to figure out that the frame was totally
shot in that old girl though. So the
search continued. I've got this CJ5 for
parts, it has a good drive-train, good
steering parts, and crap for body and
frame. I ended up finding a CJ5 of
the same year for sale about an hour and a
half away. I drove out with a trailer,
checked it out, and bought it. See my
build thread for the
