Grand Cherokee Laredo
1st Jeep. I got my
wife a new car so the Jeep is not the new
car anymore. Time to make some changes!!!
I am new to modifications. I have been
searching around and got some great ideas,
thanks to all of you! I am not a mechanic
by any stretch of the imagination. I want
my jeep mods to become sort of my hobby.
I am constantly working and I need a
"new thing"! any ideas,
suggestions, etc please feel free to reach
out. I am going to need all of the help I
can get.

Some people are like slinkies...Not
really good for anything, but they still
bring a smile to your face when you push
them down a flight of stairs.

I had it all planned out!
Lift kit in the morning and new tires in the afternoon.
Sounds simple enough right?
Think again!!!
1st incident: so I go and get a 2" BDS lift kit
installed on my 2001 Grand Cherokee. It was supposed
to be a few hour deal. well it turns out that one of
my rear shock seats brakes. so they had to order one
from the dealer. that delayed me getting the jeep back
1 whole day. so what turned out to be a few hour
project turned into a 2 day ordeal.
2nd incident: So I got the jeep back last night. I
take it to the goodyear dealer to get new (larger)
tires installed becuase of the lift kit. after a few
minutes of sizing up the various tires checking for
clearance etc. we finally got the right size (I hope!)
But in the meanwhile the guy says I need new brakes.
OK these tings happen. Then he turns around and tells
me my rear axel is leaking. So what I wanted to be
just getting new tires turned into them ripping my rear
end completely off and repacking the bearings.
Once again a small project that turned into an ordeal.
Starting to see the pattern yet?
I know things happen. I understand that! but come on!
Give me a break! LOL!!!!!
Anyway that is just my little R&R. Thanks for
listening!

| 03wjeep 10/06/2008 6:19 PM Hey its Brenton (03wjeep), thanks
for the add. I'm not gonna
pretend to be an expert or
anything, but if you have a
questions about any mod ideas I
might be able to help you out. At
the very least I have found a few
websites for various WJ add-ons;
whether it be for armor, lifts,
wheel/tires, or performance. You
might be surprised at how hard it
is to find stuff for this
generation of Grand Cherokee. |
