JEEP HISTORY
I started off trying to restore a CJ frame
up in Highschool. I was almost done with
the frame when I realized I would not
finish it before I went to college. So, I
bought an 89 YJ from a used car lot. It
was a 2.5L and smoked, but had almost no
rust. I reconditioned the engine,
eventually swaping it completely with a
newer one. I lifted it three inches, 2''
shackles and 1'' body lift, and ran 31'' x
10.5''. It was fine until I was driving
alot on the highway, back and forth from
College. It could barely hold 70 (75 after
I worked on the motor). So I sold it and
bought my current 93. It sails on the
highway compared to that 4 banger. So,
the 93's frame rotted out on me... I
bought a run down 89' with good tub and
frame and started building one jeep from
two. What I'm left with is an 89' with 93'
internals. Update: RIP 89, A drunk
pulled out in front of me on a two lane
highway (I was going about 55). His
explorer xlt took up both lanes. It turned
me sideways and the jeep made a barrel
roll. We wound up right side up in a
ditch. The explorer killed my jeep, but
she killed it right back. I was lucky
enough to get away with a few scrapes and
bruises. My girl friend got a few
stitches. Guess I built her right...
My new baby is a silver '04 Rubicon.
So far I'm really happy with her. We'll
she how she works out.
