ABOUT ME
I'm a teacher in Las Vegas. I
teach/have taught music, band,
history, social studies, math and
computers. I teach 40 miles
outside of Vegas and that gives
you a lot of time to look at
desert. I wanted to see more than
I was seeing from the highway and
in July of 2001 finally got a
Jeep. I'm heavily into desert
scenery and have won a few awards
for some of my pictures. The Jeep
is a great way to get to places
most people never get to see.

I've always wanted something to explore
in. The dirt road turn-offs have always
called out to me. I scraped up the bottom
of many a family sedan on my way to Jeep
ownership. I even attempted some
off-roading in a Fiat X19. Google that and
have a good laugh. In spite of all that my
wife of 25 years at the time was surprised
when I announced that I wanted to buy a
Jeep. She had a client who had a 94 YJ he
was tired of playing with. (in a show it
off, kind of way). I quickly proved I knew
nothing by buying it for use in the dirt.
It had tube bumpers, chrome grill and hood
hardware, monster stereo and a 4 in. body
lift. I should have gotten a clue when the
steering disconnected because it hadn't
been properly lengthened to account for
the body lift. I immediately began tearing
the tub off the body lift by bumping down
the roughest roads I could find near my
home in Vegas. It took about $2K to repair
the damage and get a good Rancho
supsension lift under me. I started my
serious off-road career and started
breaking things like radiators, U-joints,
axles, motor mounts, etc. Wife is ok with
all this. Says, in spite of all, it's a
cheap mid-life crisis.
