JEEP HISTORY
Bought it about a month ago. Mostly stock.
(May 2013) Would not run for various
reasons but got a good deal on it. Fixed
burnt wiring from laying on manifold
preventing a consistent spark and went to
work on fuel system. Rebuilt Holly carb
(waste of time) then dropped tank to find
rust and totally crumbling fuel lines and
bad sending unit that was preventing the
fuel gauge from working. Replaced that
stuff and filled tank only to find another
shredded fuel hose stinking up the work
shop. Finally thought I had it licked but
NOOOO. Holly carb starts leaking and
sticking. Replaced with MC2150. Drum
braked all around and pulling another
issue. New wheel cyl and hoses, now fronts
work way better than rear. Probably have
to do the same back there. Stopping the
exhaust from becoming per-heaters for
tires was a joy. Replace bent steering
down link, check... Alignment check...
Now dealing with gearing 4.10 and
29" tires. 32-33's might fit with a
body lift. Low budget so no Suspension
lift for now. Fix small holes in floor
and rattle can interior. Not looking too
bad. Will add as she progresses.... and
money flows... Installed axles with
2.5" skyjacker lift, Front disc
brakes and 32" tires. Need to finish
rear brakes( 11" to 10"
conversion) Then test it out. See what
goes first. Probable 2 piece axles...
Keeping the 4.10 in case I wanna go back.
7/14/13 Tweaking carb and addressing
other vapor lock issues finally got it
running real nice. Had to go up to #52
jets and open idle mixes to max out vac.
Stock fuel filter with return line fixed
vapor locking at temp. After a full
weekend of wheelin got me thinking about
power steering. Maybe HydroBoost it.
