JEEP HISTORY
Actually I bought this Jeep on a whim
because I saw it on craigslist for a
decent price, it was in great shape, I
needed a vehicle to find a job, and it had
two solid axles under it.. Not knowing
anything about Jeeps (I was always a full
size truck guy) I figured I could build it
into something useful. I fully planned on
building it slowly over time, but then the
tires (which were only two years old and
had 75% tread left on them) started to
blister and bulge. Before long I was
having blowouts. I couldn't justify
spending money on new tires that were only
29 inches tall.. So I got online. I was
originally going to just do an easy 3 inch
lift. 2 inch OME springs with one inch
spacers. new shocks, control arm drop
brackets, and stuff some 31s or possibly
32s under there. I even had the parts
ordered. But all I got was the drop
brackets.. 3 months later I was still
waiting... So I got mad, I sent the
brackets back and decided to go big or go
home. I set my mind on 33x12.5 since
those seem to be the max size for my puny
d30 up front. and I wanted at least 5
inches of lift. And I am broke so I
wanted it cheap and easy to install. I
found Rusty's. I still think it is a good
kit.. Not great.. It had everything I
needed, nothing I didn't. But the
shipping charges are ridiculous.. Couldn't
justify spending nearly $500 on shipping..
So I emailed Kolak@aol.com He turned me
onto the Rubicon Express kit. Only 4.5
inches but we are working on getting
taller springs from somebody else. and
that is where I am so far..
