JEEP HISTORY
Jeepin' since I was old enough to drive.
This is the first Jeep Ive owned
personally. I also have a 1998 Ford F150
supercab 4x4. I bought my 1977 CJ7
Golden Eagle Levi edition in 2010 from the
family that bought it new. He was a
meticulous retired Navy guy and I have
every receipt for anything significant
done to this awesome Jeep and a service
record journal showing the date of every
oil change/chassis lube, and fluid fill.
It has hardly any rust (has been in TX its
whole life) and sports its original paint,
original decals, original carpet, original
Levi dash, and factory hard top. Original
rims and stock suspension. It sports the
AMC304 and T150 tranny, both rebuilt in
the recent past. The seats were
reupholstered with a vinyl textured like
denim and the original Levi buttons were
put back in. The seats maintain the stock
look and still use the original padding.
All of the gauges work like new, the AC
blows ice cold, and even the cabin lights
come on when you turn the dimmer control
(that works, too) all the way to the left!
I was very very stoked to find such a well
taken care of original like this. When I
contacted the seller there was already a
deal in the works on the Jeep. I was very
bummed but kept in touch. After two weeks
of me telling the seller everyday that I
had cash in hand and the "other
buyer" stalling one too many times,
the seller finally agreed to let me come
have a look at it. It had never been
offroad other than a few dirt roads and
some light trails. The original steering
box is still there and is very tight with
no drift/play. I test drove it and the
deal was sealed. I've wanted my own Jeep
since my bestfriend's dad gave the CJ7
they bought new back in '78 to him for his
16th Bday. The sound of a V8 with
sidepipes was the beesknees for two 16 y/o
guys trying to get attention! My son (10
this year) loves cruising in the Jeep or
taking it to the Drive-In Theater and
putting the windshield down! You will get
alot of comments about having the perfect
vehicle for drive-ins!
