JEEP HISTORY
From the time I was 16 I wanted a Jeep,
but it never worked out until later. I got
married in June 2001, bought a '98 TJ
Sahara in August 2001, and found out we
were pregnant in October 2001. In order to
afford the daycare payment that was
coming, I only got to keep the Jeep for
about a year and then I had to sell it. It
was replaced with a '91 Ford Ranger 2wd
that I drove that for 5 long years. On
Nov. 20, 2007 my wife surprised me with a
new Jeep. I was super excited. It is a '91
YJ Wrangler with 135,000 mi. and has only
had two owners, been garaged kept, and has
NEVER been off-road. It is in incredible
shape. I'm so excited to have a jeep again
and I am having a blast tinkering again.

Every time I start a build I end up selling it due to the lack of time to finish them. My business has grown more than 30x that of what it was a year ago and I just don't have time to wrich on my rigs anymore. I've gone more of the buggy style here of late and got tired of having stuff to nice to go beat on. It's hard.. To have something you would be proud to wheel yet keep it in that shape while doing so. It's kind of like wearing your church clothes to mow the yard in. That's where the buggy fits my game a little better. I haven't had a Jeep as a dd since college. With that being said when I use them I beat on them and purdy jeeps just are not for me any more. I like something that if I roll it or do something dumb I won't cry on the drive home.

It's nice to see a clean YJ built like this one and not all shopped up into a buggy. Very clean and capable on and off road. A credit to the YJ community!

N.P Matt if you look at my profile you can see the fronts on the dana 44.

Ok Matt I went out and got the back u-bolt plates from a XJ then got the u-bolt plates from a early 70's 4x4 Chevy D44. The 44's are a spring over and the early ones are a heavy duty casting without the swey bar mounting stud. I cut the sides out of the XJ plates from the holes out. I got a set of flat bottom ubolts from a parts place for about $10, and welded bars to the underside of the Chevy Plates to center them on my 44. I put the XJ mounts on the bottom, ubolts up and the chevy plates on top. As for the back I did the same thing with the spring plates off my jeep but I had found some spring plates from a old Ford I think it was a 66 or around there It was a heavy duty one ton dually. Im not shure of the axle because it was removed at the time and the plates left on the ground. The neet thing about the ford plates is that they are cast heavy duty and curved and fit the curve of the 9" perfect. The asembly is the same as the front without the welding. I will put some photos up on my profile if i can find them.
