It sounds like a lot of work. I think it might be easier to find one that is already 4x4 with a blown motor, and swap over all of your parts that are in better shape.

In the meantime get a locker in the rear. I remember seeing a white ZJ around town with the plates "rockawn" that thing looks like it had been crawling, and its a 2wd also

So what you're saying is you need a t-case and front axle? I think there are a few of them floating around over this way. As long as a t-case is mountable to your trans. I shouldn't see a problem there.
