JEEP HISTORY
My family has owned Jeeps since my
granddad got back from the Pacific in
WWII. My dad and uncles learned to drive
in a jeepster. My earliest memories are
riding in my uncles 78 CJ-5. In 2000, I
bought a junk heap of a '77 CJ-7, not
knowing just how bad it was.. the frame
had duct tape on it spraypainted black..
to hide the rust holes.. In 2002, I
removed the body and replaced it with an
'81 from a local trader paper. Bought
new corbeau seats, new rancho leaf
springs, stainless brake lines, painless
wiring harness, new bestop, new gas tank
and sending unit, new BF Goodrich
All-Terrain 33's on Outlaw II wheels.. and
numerous other items. In spring of
2010, I redid the dash.. bought aluminum
and had my uncle cut out a new dash at his
machine shop. All new Autometer
Sport-Comp gauges, including a tach and
electronic speedo - programmable. Also
in spring of 2010, bought NV4500.
Undergoing a build currently.

Palmetto, thanks for turning me onto the Cherokee, it was equipped exactly as I wanted right down to the color. After I wheeled it for a while I decided to sell it. It wheeled great on the trips I took it on. My orignal plan was to have my daughter drive it to school and me use it on the side. Doughter didn't like it,niether did the wife and son, they voted for me to keep my Rubicon which I came close to selling, glad I didn't sell. I put it in the San Diego craigslist and the first guy that saw it bought it(like I did) on the spot, it was that clean!. I lost a little money on it since I re-did the entire cooling system, new everything! including a 3 row all metal radiatior, didn't want the head issue to come up.
Anyways, thanks for the lead on the Cherokee, I wish I could have kept it but it just didn't work out but didn't regret experiencing the Cherokee side.
