I live in on 80 acres of private land
completely surrounded by National Forest
in the Mogollon Mts of SW New Mexico,
seven river crossings from the nearest
road. It's a river canyon with biannual
floods that turn calf deep water and sand
into a muddy, trucking eating mire. After
many (MANY!) different vehicles to get in
and out for supplies etc I and my family
have settled on jeeps as the most reliable
(and fun) way to get in and out of the
canyon. We started out with a '01 Sport
with tons of offroad mods (automatic,
6" lift, 35" boggers, winches
back and front, custom bumpers, snorkel
etc) just for getting to the road (no good
once you're there though, definitely an
offroad only jeep) and then got a
green/tan 95 sahara (stock mostly, with a
few custom touches) for our street rig,
and then recently upgraded to a 97 sport
(jade/teal color with 3" lift, 31 BFG
mudders, 5 spd) for coming into the canyon
in good to moderate weather as well as
general street driving.
The
reliability and fun of the jeeps have
caused us to basically get rid of all of
our other rigs (except the 4wheelers,
which are definitely necessary). And I've
definitely become a Jeep girl :)
