My Dad bought our family's first jeep back
in 1996(?), and it was a used XJ in a
really cool dark teal color that I have
yet to see again (all the other ones seem
to be a lighter color). He sold that to
buy a new 1998 XJ he ordered from the
factory. I got my license in that Jeep,
and he planed to give it to me eventually,
but he crashed it and totaled it. He
replaced it with a used 2001 WJ that he
still drives today. Having crashed what
was supposed to be my Jeep, I ended up
with an old nissan sentra and then a ford
tarus I got for nearly free when my sentra
died. After a crash that totaled the
ford, I decided that I was finally going
to buy myself a Jeep. After a couple
weeks searching, I went trying to find a
Wrangler or Cherokee, and ended up at a
dealer talking about some used TJs when I
saw this green and tan YJ parked in the
back. I asked about it, and he said it
was his. I ended up talking him to him
about it, checked it out, and I eventually
talked him into selling it, and bought it
instead of financing a TJ (best decision I
ever made, so glad not to be strapped with
payments!)
