JEEP HISTORY
The profile pic is of the '88 YJ I got for
my son that I ended up keeping for myself.
When we got it, it had been sitting in
the back of my friend's house for a few
years. It had two flat tires, dirt/weeds
all over it and so on. We got her home
and eventually got her fired up. It now
has a 4" lift, custom bumpers and I'm
getting the tires next week (35x12.5x15).
I already did the AX15/TC swap and she
runs great. I also did the Team Rush
conversion, Motorcraft 2100 Carb, Nutter
bypass, XJ axle in place of the CAD, and a
few other things. I only paid 500 bucks
for this Jeep! I'm going to make the rock
sliders in a week or so, swing out tire
carrier and then I'm going to paint it
Blue (grill, hood, tub, doors and tail
gate), the fenders, bumpers, sliders and
tire carrier will be black. Below is what
I typed a couple years ago.... Got
this '90 YJ back in '05. All stock
drivetrain, got a 4" lift,33X12.5X15
tires, highback Race front seats, Tube
bumpers with tow plates welded in for
towing, mp3/CD player, soundbar, grab
handles, firebottle, hitch/trailer lights,
back up spotlights, KC lights/bar, High
Lift Jack, Two tops, AC, and a few other
little things. The four banger is fairly
new (rebuilt), so I'm not in a big hurry
to swap that out just yet. I've owned
other Jeeps in the past '78 Wagoneer, '84
Wagoneer and an '87 Cherokee 4.0. My
Daughter has a '96 ZJ and my son has an
'88 YJ. ***Update*** Well, I sold
my '90 and my son bought a '97 ZJ, so I
got his '88. The '88 has the stock
engine, tranny/peugeot, dana 30/dana35.
I'm doing a tranny swap soon (AX15) soon,
I got a RC 4" lift that I still have
to put on, I'm getting 35's as soon as i
do the tranny swap, I'm making flat
fenders now, I made/mounted front and rear
bumpers, converted my tailgate to a drop
down type (for only 20 bucks and it
looks/works great), mounted four KC lights
on the light overhead light bar, bedliner
in the tub, made my own sound bar with
four speakers and a dome light. I'm going
to make my sliders in a few weeks, do a
full cage when I get the time and I still
have to get rid of the two piece axle
shaft. I have the one piece axle and
seals, but haven't had time to install
that yet. I'll post pics as soon as I can
get time to do so. I'm going to
eventually paint the Jeep myself. I'm not
a painter, but I'm going to give it a try!
:-) Anyway, that's my update on Life
with a Jeep!
