JEEP HISTORY
Currently: 96ZJ (dubbed
"Stewie," because it came with a
decal of a diaper-clad Stewie Griffin on
the back window), 97ZJ (dubbed
"Vickie," because the guy we
bought it from was named - honestly -
Bobbie Bouchey, so we named it after the
movie Bobbie's girlfriend). Formerly:
Several XJ's - 1989 (sold), 1991 (killed
by deer ambush), 2001 (sold), 1996 (given
to young local Jeep enthusiast for a build
project); 1969 Wagoneer, junked; 197? J10,
197? J20 junked, can't recall the years;
1986 MJ (Comanche - it was killed by drunk
driver who slammed into me); 1979 CJ7
(sold); 197? mail Jeep, RHD, sold; 1974
Cherokee Chief (junked); my first
"car" rides were in relative's
Jeeps - J2000, J1000, Jeepster Commando,
and Wagoneers/Grand Wagoneers; we always
had Jeeps on the different families' farms
and at our place in the Adirondacks. I
think I learned to drive a Jeep before I
learned to drive a tractor. The farms are
long lost to memory, and the place in the
Adirondacks becomes a bit further from my
heart with each passing year, but the one
consistent anchor to my past still left to
me is the Jeep. And I hope that is never
lost.

"...a long habit of not thinking a thing wrong, gives it a superficial appearance of being right, and raises at first a formidable outcry in defense of custom. But tumult soon subsides. Time makes more converts than reason." Thomas Paine
