Bought my jeep off craigslist for $1000.
Tranny was missing 3rd / 4th gear, 1/2 of
a soft top, bald tires, and nasty smelling
carpet. Ditched the carpet, rebuilt the
tranny, bought a new besttop soft top and
drove it to work for about 6 months.
Didn't realize the rear diff had a leak,
and one day driving home, a funny burning
smell came from the rear. Got home to
find the rear axle glowing red. Figured
I'd let it cool and pop the cover to see
how bad it was - it was bad. Rode the
motorcycle to work for a week while I
looked for a new truck. Backed the jeep
into the garage and the teardown began.
