JEEP HISTORY
Been in love with Jeeps as long as I can
remember. Had the late 1960s Tonka Jeep
Pickup and Dump Truck as a kid. Great
memories of playing "Doctari" in
the backyard with my brother and our Jeep
pick-ups. When I was in college, one of
my friends drove a CJ5 with the 304 in it.
He loved having the Jeep but made me
drive it, which was a-ok with me. We had
a ton of fun in that CJ, was always a hit
at our college's pep rallies. Next Jeep
experience was with my best friend, Chuck,
and his '79 CJ-7. We took it up into the
Smokey Mountains near Gatlinburg, TN, and
Cherokee, NC, during a Christmas break in
College. Lots of fun there. Finally
got my own Jeep in 1996 after our 2nd son
was born. Sold the idea to my wife (it
was an easy sell, she likes Jeeps, too) as
us needing to upgrade my 3-seat p'up truck
to something with 4 seats and going with
CJ-7 would be the least expensive (at
least upfront ;) ) way to do that. She
agreed and I picked up my CJ in Oct of
'96. Have had it ever since. Along the
way, I've had it painted, new windshield
frame, added lots of stainless, improved
the wheels/tires, new clutch, rebuilt Carb
several times, new SuperTop, added tinted
windows, and on and on... My son's are
now eyeing it and bicker about who gets it
when I kick the bucket! :D
