JEEP HISTORY
Leased my 96 ZJ new through a dealer. Ran
it over the allotted miles so purchased
it. Have loved it for the past 18 years,
driven it for 204K miles, and it turned
our family into all Jeeps! Years ago
we added a used 1993 XJ for my wife and
she gripped because it had 120K miles on
it. Now it has 236K miles, still runs
great, and is our spare. Probably the best
Jeep we have in deep snow with a 5-speed
manual trans. My son purchased a used
1996 XJ Country and is still driving
it. In 2008 my wife bought a 2000 TJ
Sahara from a used car dealer against my
advice since it was not well maintained.
While I fixed it all up unfortunately the
frame rotted out and sold it last
year. July, 2013 we bought a 2004 4.7
WJ Limited with only 74K miles. As we are
aging figured we deserved some luxury. I
replaced all the brake parts, front
bearing hub assemblies, new lower ball
joint, new plugs, and had new tires
installed. While supposedly the 4.7 is
supposed to be near the 4.0 in gas mileage
I will say this V8 sucks gas but has
power! Maintaining/repairing 4 Jeeps
keeps me pretty darn busy.
