The first time I went 4x4ing in a Jeep
(4x4ing period) was in a Wrangler when I
was 14 in my buddy and his uncle. It was
awesome. I went in to my bus-boy job later
that day and started telling one of the
bar patrons about my time and he got some
pictures of him and his Jeep and filling
my head with all kinds of stories.

Fast forward 8 years. I've
gone through 6 different types of car,
traveled over 10,000 miles touring with
the remaining members of The Grateful
Dead, and I'm living in Humboldt County
CA. I move in to a house and start working
for my landlord doing residential
construction, beginning with my house
while I stay in it for free watching tools
and the property. For extra security
purposes, the landlord's parents parked
their 87 Cherokee Chief in the driveway (I
didn't have a vehicle) for a mask of
someone being home all the time.

Well after about a month of
work, the house is done and my landlord is
finally moving all of his tools and
materials out of my house. As he comes
over to get the Jeep I ask what the deal
is with it. After a lunch with him and his
parents and a smooth 1000.00, I get the
keys to my own 1987 Jeep Cherokee Chief
with just under 200,000 miles on
it.

It already has some sort
of lift on it with leaf springs in the
back and some coils in the front, but I'm
not sure what kind. There is also a nice
ram bar on the front bumper as well as
some pretty sweet looking lights in the
center of the grill.

I've put
a lot of work into this Jeep in the last 9
months and I'm only working on more. I am
working on cleaning out my garage for
Winter working.

I can go on
and on. More in the future :)
