I have owned (4) Jeeps.
85 Cherokee
manual I-6 Selec-Trac
86 Cherokee auto
I-6 Selec-Trac
98 GRand Cherokee 5.2 V8
auto Selec-Trac
2009 Grand Cherokee 4.7
V8 auto Limited Quadra Drive II
I also
owned a 99 Durango 5.9 V8 auto Selec-Trac
which was a great Dodge version of a
Jeep.
I traded in a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500
4X4 QC Hemi on the new Jeep. I ran
33" Destination AT tires on that rig.
If I had the cabbage, I would have kept
the Ram and possibly upgraded it to be a
little more off-road aggressive.
These
days, my off-roading consists of taking
the kids onto the beach, and hitting the
fire trails to do a little hunting. When I
decided to go back to a comfy SUV for the
daily drive, I figured I'd try to find a
Grand Cherokee with Quadra Drive II that
would let me run something like the LTX
M/S 2, yet still have enough off-road
mechanical capability to help the M/S
tires get to my favorite hunting
spots.
Of all of the Jeeps I have
owned, the 86' Cherokee was probably the
best trail beast. It had 235/75R/15
Michelin X tires that were unstoppable on
snow and ice, and got me anywhere I wanted
to go in the field, and I could drive off
the highway and onto the beach.
I
never got into heavy off-roading, like my
brother, who has a nicely modded Rubicon
Wrangler. As a result, my Jeeps have all
remained relatively Factory equipped. I
know, how boring, But hey, it's a
testament to the capability of the
brand.
I look forward to following the
forum discussions.
