JEEP HISTORY
I was kinda born in to jeepness My father
has owned many jeeps from a 46 Willys to a
06 TJL. I started with a 1986 2wd 4cyl
4spd Comanche sport that when I bought it,
it was missing the back window and
anything that had to with a key you
started it with a screwdriver. I then
bought/trade for a 1985 4wd V6 5spd
Comanche Pioneer that was one big rust
bucket with low mile I just wanted the
4wd. My father and me completely rebuilt
that truck with a wooden bed fresh paint
and tin cab corners. New rims and tires
and that was the best redneck truck ever.
I then took a extern ship for school in
colorado and the truck came off the road
and I bought a car my wife (girlfriend at
the time) could drive and we drove to
colorado for a summer. When we came home
we needed something more reliable and sold
the truck. I was jeep less for a year or
two when I found the best jeep I ever
owned. It was 1990 4wd inline6 5spd
Comanche eliminator. That truck had
factory scids, factory buckets, a show
bar, brush bar, a catback system, Intake,
a 3" lift and 30's when I was done
with it. The page and cover of JP that it
was in under readers rigs still hangs on
my wall. I drove that truck for almost 3
years when I received news that I was
going to be a daddy. Sadly a truck with 2
seats was not going to work anymore a for
sale sign was hung. The truck was sold to
a kid who used it until he got out of
highschool then I understand it was sold
to someone in PA to be a mud racer. I was
then jeepless for a little time when my
son was born to save money. Then the time
came for me to get my own vehicle again. I
said I will seidel for nothing but a YJ.
So my search began witch lead me to a
friend who sold used cars and could get me
one from the auction. He brought me a
clean 1995 YJ with a 4cyl 5spd and was
bare bones no carpet, no radio a perfect
canvas for me to start from. I drove that
YJ for about 4 months when not knowing how
a short wheel base vehicle is on ice I
slammed it in to a guardrail. Totaled is
what the insurance company sed. Knowing I
wanted a second one I bough it back with
its fait to come latter. I then started my
search again and found a 1995 YJ the same
color but a auto for a good price. This
was a good jeep the auto was a mistake but
I wanted my wife feel the same joy I felt
driving it. I drove this jeep for almost a
year as I repaired the other jeep. I then
sold the totaled jeep fully repaired
except for the body damage to my father in
law for his 15 year old son. About the
same time I found a 95 YJ with the inline
6 and a 5 spd a two piece hard top, soft
top in a field at a friends home. I told
him I had to have it, hell it was in
better shape the my current jeep. A deal
was made I thanked my father for a loan
again in my life and had a second jeep
again. I sold the auto YJ for what I paid
for it ( I can sell a jeep to anyone) I
now have that YJ. I have added a plow to
it and other odds and ends including new
fenders after rear ending a Buick. It
looks as good as new and I have no
intentions of ever selling it for now.
