JEEP HISTORY
My Dad had a CJ6 Tuxedo Park (man I wish
that jeep was around when I turned 16!).
So when it was time for me to start
driving it was down to a '64 Impala, or a
'81 CJ5. The 5 was choosen, and the rest
is history! My first 5 was known as
"The Chick Magnet". I paid
$288.68 for it, and I still have the
invoice. I delived alot of newspapers to
get that jeep. My Dad showed me practiclly
everything about that jeep. I pulled my
first motor when I was 15. It was a good
little jeep, but Pa rust took its life. I
parted it out like a dummy, a few years
later. My next project was a '79 CJ7.
It was a complete mess. I put a 360 in it
outta a Cherokee. This jeep was solid as
hell, as it was from Arizona. I sold it
because I wanted a "new"
Wrangler. Then I got my YJ which I still
have to this day. I also had a '55
M38A1. It was really ruff, but a cool rig.
It never seen the road while I had it. I
had a '77 CJ5 that was a great woods
beater for a few years. I can't even begin
to think about the parts jeeps I've had in
between. But my "pipe dream"
is my 1945 Ford GPW. Its ruff, but all the
big componants are there. Some day I hope
to do a restore on it, and cruise it
around... someday. See ya on the
trail! Doug
