Grandfather always had a project CJ, he
was working on in the garage. Bought'em
wrecked, fixed em better than new, and
sold em. I was always a chevy man- until I
needed a cheap lil get around vehicle.
That ended up being an 1985 XJ w the 2.5 L
4 cyl. 4 spd- bought it for $300.00
rebuilt the motor- that lil thing got 27
miles per gallon. I luved that Jeep-
talked about how good it did in the snow,
(which was great), then my mom sold her
S-10 and got her 99 XJ. Life happened-
long story short- I ended up with custody
of my nephew, and was looking for a newer
Jeep. I wanted a jeep that still had a
solid front axle- AND- one that I could
actually lay down in the back without
having my knees up (like the XJ) and I
looked and looked, and layed in the back
of several SUV's. Well- I found that at
5'10" I could fit in the back of a WJ
(dogs included)- AND- it still had the
solid front axle. As anyone who plays in
Colorado back country a solid axle is a
must have!!! It was/is so nice that even
my mom decided to get one, after taking a
couple trips in mine. A little bigger than
the XJ- but not as big as a full size!
Perfect.. Or, so I thought. Naa- really- I
do luv my WJ.
