JEEP HISTORY
just bought a 1984 CJ-7, 4.2L Auto.. lots
of extras, will list them as I figure out
what all it has.. I know one thing is this
huge aluminum radiator.. lots of work
this next winter getting it in shape too..
but should be fun.. Dad always had a
willy's all tricked out for hunting.. I
bought my first CJ-5 in 1975 and fixed it
up for the Rubicon and area.. then went
to a 1979 CJ-5.. put in the t-18 tranny,
401 AMX Hi-Po motor w/Turbo.. burbank
suspension, tru-tracs, gabriels, skid
pads, warn 8000, and all the other little
trinkets.. what a ride.. miss it, so,
here I am starting over with the '93, hope
I can make it as good a jeep, even tho its
only a 4cyl.. better mileage tho.. I was
a part owner in Diablo Off Road Center in
Concord, CA.. We had a full service 4
wheel shop, Diablo 4WD, Base Camp, and
Sounds Etc... Jack, George, and Wayne
I've noticed a lot of bias against the
T-18 transmission in the forum, but... if
you don't mind a 3 speed on the road, its
probably one of the best trannies for
doing what ever you want.. that granny low
will climb a tree and get you the apple at
the top.. combined with the low range
transfer case.. it was fantastic when
going down extremely steep mtns, over huge
rocks, you want to crawl without using
your brakes up.. that trans is one of the
best!!!
