Bought first Jeep in 1995. It was a 4-cyl
and I had it lifted with 32's. I knew
nothing at the time about gears, etc. and
I worked an hour from home so the drive
with stock gears was brutal. I traded it
for a pickup but finally in 2000, I bought
a 1979 Cherokee Chief rust bucket and the
Jeepin' bug stuck. I learned ALOT while
working on it but it was too huge and I
wanted a "real Jeep" so I sold
the FSJ and bought a 1967 CJ-5. I lifted
it and put on 32's. It was a good beach
buggy but the F-head was not powerful
enough to push 32's around the trails. In
2003 I sold a house and had enough money
to buy my current 1988 YJ. I love it
because of the "old school"
features such as the 4.2 and the diagonal
roll bars. I ended up trading the CJ-5 for
a screen enclosure on my back porch and
not I devote all my time to the YJ. I also
started the Matanzas Jeep 4x4 Club with a
buddy from work and Jeep have ended up
consuming most of my free time and any
extra money I have.
