Well, broke down and bought a new 2011 JK
Unlimited Sahara. This is now my third
Jeep, and one which the whole familiy can
ride in. Sure had some good times in the
old CJ, but it is time to let go. It is
currently for sale.
Dad started the
craziness with pulling WW2 Jeeps from
farmers fields in Austria in the '60s. We
had 7 flat fenders ranging from the MB's
to Cj3A's. Dad had a 76 CJ-7 in Austria.
Since the move to the USA, he had a Grand
Cherokee, and drives now a Commander.
owned a Wrangler in High School, but it
was constantly broken down due to my bad
off road choices (MUD). Purchased my old
CJ for $ 700, and had over $36,000
invested in it.
I learned that real
Jeeps are built, and did a frame off
restoration, which finally included a
built AMC 360 with TBI, Terra low unit for
the Dana 300, T176 tranny and a lunch box
locker for the rear. Looking forward to
bolt on performance upgrades on my new
Jeep without busting knuckles due to rusty
bolts, and I finally get to stop chasing
that rust monster!
Also, my oldest
daughter is driving a 1994 Wrangler, and
is loving it! Luckily no rust on hers
yet. She has already asked for a lift.
