JEEP HISTORY
I bought my first jeep in 2006. It was a
89 Cherokee that I bought for $650. Drove
it for about 30 minutes and thought "
I should've bought one of these 20 years
ago. I drove it for 4 years with a bad
transfer case. What killed it was a stuck
T stat last winter coming home from work
at 3 in the morning at about 17 degrees
outside temp. I'd drive about five miles
and it would start to seeze up. Let it
cool and hit it again. Left work at 2:30
am and got home at 7:00 am. One cold 36
mile ride home from work. It had 249,000
miles on it. Needed rocker panels and
other things. I figured after the beatin'
it took getting home that night that the
motor was sure to go so I "dare I
say" junked it for $200. My present
95 ZJ was purchased for $300 last summer.
I drove by it for 2 years on my way to
work and one day knocked on the owners
doors, it ran, I bought it and it has been
a great replacement for my former jeep.
I'm into my ZJ for just under $2000 and
plan on spending another $5000 on it over
the summer. Lift kit, tires and rims, and
a little paint and cosmetics. Someone ask
me "what will you do if the motor
goes after you spend all that money on
it?" Answer, "rebuild the
motor". I bought it from the original
owners. Was garage kept untill they
purchased they're 04 GC and parked the 95
in they're yard. I'm like most jeep
owners. I turn and look at it as I walk
away and can't wait to get off work to
drive it home. Yeah, I'm hooked. Its a
jeep thing, I know you understand. Love
your jeep, like your wife.
