JEEP HISTORY
This is my first jeep. My brother and I
did the build on this for the most part.
He did most of the work; I did all the
research on parts. I saw some YJís same
year as mine so I asked tonís of
questions. I didnít know anything before
we started. I read the jeep forums asked
questions. For months all I did was talk
jeep, drove my friends and family crazy.
We put a 4Ē lift, Rubicone
Extreme-DutyTM System it had everything I
needed. I didnít want to lower the
transfer case so we put in rear CV drive
shaft along with a Tom woods drive shaft.
I have 33Ē tires with American wheels I
keep my backing spacing in specs so I
still have my turning radius. I had a shop
do the tube with the rhino liner and
paint. I also had a shop put 411 gears in
for me after doing the lift and bigger
tires I lost my 5th gear. I didnít see
the need for lockers at the time but the
shop did put a posi-trac rear end. If I
ever sell it I hope someone would get a
nice jeep. I have new front seats not the
best but they work new steering wheel,
stereo. The engine and transmission are
original with a little over 200,000 miles
on it. The transmission is the Peugeot it
makes noise but still works. I do have a
weber 38 dges carb still new in the box
never installed. I asked one shop but they
didnít want to mess with it. I wanted
someone who knows carburetor, which I
havenít found yet in my area. So maybe my
brother and I will try it before this
winter. We can only do so much do to lack
of knowledge and tools plus a place to do
work on it. Anyway itís a labor of love
and at some point I will have the engine
and transmission replaced or rebuild. Now
Iím on a tight budget, anything thatís
needs to be done, is as needed. I donít
think Iíll ever sale it. Itís a labor of
love a project my brother and I did
together. Priceless
