JEEP HISTORY
August 2013: Got tired of being a
passenger and purchased the jeep. Was
told it had a '95 4.0 swapped in. Bad oil
blowby problem, and the peugot tranny
almost has no reverse. Perfect
project! September 2013: Dry rotted
tires blow out, purchase a slightly used
set of Superswampers. Cut my fender
flares to fit said tires. Fabricate my
own rock sliders and rear bumper with tire
carrier. Start researching motor
rebuilds. October 2013: Find a '96
Cherokee that was wrecked for the right
price, decide to swap the motor instead of
rebuilding the wranglers motor. In
checking for compatibility, I discover
that the jeep I purchased has a 4.2 w/ the
MPFI kit and 4.0 head, and a direct swap
from 4.0 > 4.0 just wasn't happening.
Also decide to further complicate things
by using the AW4 from the Cherokee. Nov
- Dec 2013: Research OBDII swaps till my
eyes bleed, decide to "5 wire to
fire" and move the whole cherokee
harness over. Yank both motors, clock the
transfer case, order my hack-n-tap SYE for
the NP242 and begin splicing wires.
