JEEP HISTORY
This is my 2nd XJ. I added Gibson
Performance Exhaust, New high performance
Intake Manifold bored out from 61mm to
68mm to fit the Painless 68mm Throttle
body with K&N Cold Air Induction kit,
e3 Spark Plugs and I upgraded the Fuel
Injectors to New 4 hole high performance
from FiveOMotorSports.com. The gas mileage
jumped to 26 hwy 21 town driving. That's
a lot better than 18mpg Hwy 14mpg the new
car sticker says, but never gets. When
you need Power the 68mm Painless makes it
jump, sounds like a Jet sucking the air at
startup..........! The Week of
7/19/2013 I had to install new Radiator,
Alternator, Power Steering Pump, Hayden
Clutch Fan. These Summer Temps here in
Miami over 90F, the Red Lights last
forever and now the XJ does not get over
190F.....! I still have that issue with
the Miss Fire Cylinder#3 when I'm out
shopping but I'll research that
later. I Highly recommend The Hayden
Clutch Fan....! Well after all that and
it helped but it did not stop, the Miss
Fire on Cylinder #3 I keep getting along
with the Ruff Running when I start it up
after a quick stop to run in a store to
purchase items. I have the Jeep
Factory Fix insulator installed and that's
worthless here in Miami. So after much
research I found the cause of the Miss
Fire. I ordered Thermo-Shield from Cool It
and it's expensive. It's 2000 Degrees
Radiant Heat Reflection Protection with
adhesive on one side that's worthless in
that Heat.....!!! I found out the
Cylinder #3 Miss Fire is caused by the
heat vaporizing the Fuel in #3 Injector
and the Fuel Rail due to heat generated
from this climate and that Iron Lug 4.0L.
First I wrapped all Injectors in the tape
securing with cable ties. Then tested it,
it failed and threw another Miss Fire
Code. So I wrapped the Fuel Rail and part
of the Gas Line, it's good but runs a
little ruff starting up for a moment.
Today 6-12-2014 I doubled wrapped the Fuel
Line all the way back to the Fire Wall and
this was the end of this Problem. A lot of
heat is generated in these long Red Lights
in this climate and the XJ really runs
good now like it did when I lived in
Tennessee.
