First time around I had a 1991 Jeep
Islander (YJ) which I built into a daily
driver/off-road machine (well, back in
those days anyway). For some unknown
reason I got rid of that and got a '81
Toyota FJ40 which I built and went just
about as far as I could to keep it street
legal since I would be driving it to/from
the trails. Due to unforeseen
circumstances I had to get rid of it few
years back. Then just a few months ago
SHAZAM! It hit me again. As I'm driving
back and forth to work frequently I see
off-road vehicles going to/from the
Rubicon. I gotta have me one of those!
How do I convince the Wife about this one.
With much kissing of the lower bodily
parts and making promises that will never
be able to be fullfilled I'm picking up a
2003 Jeep Rubicon either today or tomorrow
(01/30 or /2-01 2009). And the very best
thing that could happen is yesterday the
wife says, quote "I hope you are
going to lift that thing" unquote.
Times like those I realize why I married
my life long partner. Time to shop, time
to build. Keep the rubber side down and
hope to see you on the trails.
