JEEP HISTORY
I bought a 1985 Grand Wagoneer two years
ago and was very impressed with the
quality and ruggedness of the Jeep, even a
luxury SUV model. With gas prices on the
rise, its too damn expensive to drive
anything with a 360 in it as a daily
driver. So, with this in mind, my fiance
was looking for a vehicle with good
mileage that was tough and cool, so I said
"how about a Wrangler?" She
agreed readily(she's a keeper) and, after
some hunting, we found a black 1992 YJ at
a small local dealer that sells almost
exclusively Jeep Wranglers. We loved it,
and bought it the day we drove it. It was
in good shape with a hard top and full
hard doors. Soon after, she decided she
wanted a four door sedan to commute in
instead, so the Wrangler became mine.
She's a little thing, and I think she was
intimidated by the military-grade vehicle
with a manual transmission. I know she
could have learned to adjust to this kind
of vehicle, but when I saw the chance to
own the thing I didn't argue too loudly.
So I drive it daily, go mudding whenever I
can, and generally enjoy the hell out of
owning a Jeep Wrangler. Oh, and I still
have the Wagoneer. No way I'm sellin' it
either.
