3" lift kit recommendations?

I have an 04 TJ that is 100% stock. I am looking for a lift kit preferably under $500. I dive it mostly in the city, but I do occasionally take it off road on forest trails. The most I deal with is small downed trees and mud. I do not plan on doing many mods to it. Just a small lift, winch, slightly bigger tires, and Line-x. I welcome the input from more experienced jeepers. :D

Rough Country 2.5" lift for $299.If your sticking with 31's,I'd stick to 2-2.5" of lift. Here's mine back when I had a 2.25" lift and 31's.

x2. RC 2.5" lift is perfect for 31's. If you're looking to run 33's I'd suggest RC 3.25" lift of 3.75" combo kit (2.5" lift + 1.25" BL). Both are under 400 bucks.

My TJ with RC's 3.25" lift w/ 33's

BTW Boogie, how many Jeep's do you freakin' have??? If you own all the different one's I've seen you post in threads I'm really jealous!

I ran 35's with that combo for years. With 33's and not a ton of bashing the rear,it should be fine.3.5" is a bit much for 31's (IMO).It's up to you. Here's my old Jeep with 3.5" of lift and 31's.

Same lift with 35's.

what is a 4 banger TJ? I assume you mean check junkyards?
4 banger = 4 cylinder........

You'll be very lucky to find TJ axles in a junkyard, especially if they're geared to anything lower than 3.07. I'd just go pull a 91-99 HP Dana 30 from an XJ and search for a used 44/Rubi 44. Gear them the same and you'll be good to go. Ditching 3.07's will be similar to seeing your first set of tits.
