JEEP HISTORY
I bought my (then) stock 99 TJ off my dad
since he wasn't using it much. I was
definitely intimidated by the amount of
information and work it took to make it a
safe and capable trail Jeep. After
scouring Cragslist I lucked out and found
a set of front and rear Dana 44s along
with a nv241 off a 04 Rubi. My only claim
of mechanical skill was changing spark
plugs, but I jumped into this project
armed only with my determination and a lot
of help from the various Jeep forums. I
was able to strip down the axles, cover
them with POR 15, and change out the
seals, brakes, shafts, etc. When I was
finished I had two rather nice Rubi D44s
installed along with a nv241, a 4"
lift and various other goodies. Since
then, all of the mods have been done by me
except for some machining and mig/plasma
work. My Jeep also got me interested in
Ham radio, which has turned into a serious
hobby for me. I challenged myself to go
all the way with it, and in January of
2015 I passed my Amateur Extra.
