JEEP HISTORY
My old man needed a jeep to get to some
property we had back in 1990. I searched
through every newspaper :) I could find
for about 6 months until I came upon this
listing that had promise. My dad paid for
the jeep and I promised to fix it up and
keep it running. Years later, roads
leading to the property were all paved and
jeep was no longer needed. Fortunately I
had just rolled it a few months prior and
it had replacement multicolored hood and
windshield. I assured him it wouldn't be
worth as much to anyone as it did to me
and he signed the title over :) It's been
a part of my life since then and has
undergone a complete frame off restore.
Originally just started with a "I
need to get this more reliable" to
"well I'm here already, I might as
well..." Then I decided to purchase
a 84 CJ7 farm jeep for my new project jeep
and move on. Moved the entire powertrain
to the cj7, redid the electrical, gauges,
seats, and changed my mind. I couldn't
let the CJ5 go. She'd been with me for
too many yrs and I love the character of
the 5's so I started all over. Sold the
cj7 and harley to get some money and
re-started my 5. I have to say it's been
more then trying on multiple occasions and
I still don't currently have it completed
(promised my wife it would be done before
our 4 yr old was born) but I have learned
enormous amounts throughout this ordeal.
My daughters (now 3 of them) all love to
ride in the jeep every chance
possible...in between brake downs. Have a
few more items to check off the list
before it's complete but I'm getting
closer all the time. Can't wait to be
done and will post pics of entire process
when complete.
