JEEP HISTORY
My momma said Jeeps are a Girl's Truck.
She had a 91 Jeep Cherokee that she named
Tigerpaws. We had fun climbing snow and
ice covered hills to get to our dentist
one nasty winter watching people in cars
slide backwards or sideways down. That
year, the Jeep earned her name. Jeeps
are more stylish than sidekicks. And I
like the older build style, which is why I
went with a 98 instead of a younger model.
I don't want a Jeep with rounded edges,
and I don't want a box on wheels. Mine
earned her name avoiding migrating deer
and moose, and folks who do not know how
to drive on snow covered icy roads while I
went up North to Fort St John. She is
Tigress. And she is my first Jeep. And so
far, I am liking her better than the mini
vans that I had when I was in University
The first one was older than me and I just
got tired of fixing one issue after
another after another (her name was
Problem Child), the next one, a 92, died
on the Coquihalla went something fell off
the back of a flat bed truck and punched
through into the engine. Her replacement
(Dubbed Beast/Cheetah by my family) was
turned into spare parts when the
electrical gremlins wouldn't let up on
some electrical problems. The vehicle that
got the good parts became known as
Devastor by my family and she ran well.
She was the only van I had that didn't
die, and she was priced to be sold to a
student or working family. I wanted a
change, and I got good at fixing my
minivans. My jeep came with her own
issues, having been not maintained by her
previous owner. So the back axle needed to
be overhauled, the exhaust system
replaced, some leaks on the transmission
patched and the battery replaced. Upside
of the works in progress, I learn how to
fix them.
