Pre-Jeep: When I was 4, I knew I wanted
the "car with no doors or roof,"
as I called it then. I fell in love with
a blue CJ-5 on a New Jersey road that was
going to the same beach we were. I was in
the back seat of my dad's Rambler. We
followed that CJ-5 many miles to the
beach, and I wanted one.
1st Jeep: Red
1990 Jeep Wrangler YJ soft top, AMC 2.5
Liter engine 5 speed ax-5, NP231 transfer
case, 4.11 axles. lifted 4 inches and had
32 inch BF Goodrich Mud Terrains on
American Racing Outlaw II 15x8 rims. It
started off as a plain Jane and at its'
peek, it was beautiful and well
customized. Named Murphy because at the
beginning what ever could go wrong often
did. I had Murphy 9 years before I sold
her. I have regretted it ever sense.
2nd Jeep and current Jeep: Solar
Yellow 2001 Jeep Wrangler TJ Sport, black
soft top, 4.0 inline 6 cylinder engine. It
started its life with me as a plain Jane
also. Has 31X10.5 inch BF Goodrich All
Terrains T/A on 15x8 Canyon rims. She has
a Dana 44 rear axle, Dana 30 front axle,
axle ratio 3.73, 5 speed NV3550, NV231
transfer case. Added upper half door
slider windows. I have had this Jeep 9
years. I looked for two and a half years
to find just the right one. The color,
engine, transmission, axles and axle
ratios had to be exactly what I wanted.
It had to be perfect. (Success! November
11, 2011, I made my last payment.
December 7, 2011, I got my title!)
Jeep: Bought it October 17,2009. Sold
(The 2000 Jeep Grand
Cherokee was exchanged for a 2007 Durango.
My wife did this and I may not forgive
4th Jeep: (My wife came home with
a 2012 JK Wrangler Sahara Unlimited on
the 15th of September 2014. The Grand
Cherokee incident of 2011 has been
Added : Rampage single
loop double tube stainless steel front
bumper, Smittybuilt double tube stainless
steel rear bumper, Skyjacker 4 inch
suspension lift, mopar stainless grill
cover to cover up chipped grill, Hella six
inch bumper mounted fog lights, under
fender 4 inch 100 watt spot lights,
Stainless steel side step nerf bars. All
of these have a lifetime rust warranty.
33x10.5 R15 BF Goodrich A/T KM
Stainless steel side mirrors (to replace
oxidizing mirrors.) Stainless steel
window hinges, stainless door hinges.
For now, spray paint and touch up
paint is keeping the rust fairies at bay.
To avoid being visited by those
horrible rust fairies, I will be using as
much stainless steel as I can. I got
tired of painting my grill and bumpers all
the time. The problem is, it looks like a
bit too much bling, for my taste, but I
figure the rust alternative is worse.
