JEEP HISTORY
My first car was a $1,800 1982 Pontiac
Firebird. I got hit in the passenger side
door, and the cost to make repairs was
around $2,000, so it was time to buy
something else. I was looking around for
a couple months at different ideas like
sports cars with my $8,000 budget. I then
found this black 1997 Jeep Wrangler Sport
for sale. KBB said it was worth $11 or
$12,000 so I went for it. It was the best
$8,000 decision I ever made! Except my
wife's engagement/wedding ring of course.
I bought the Jeep with 114,000 miles on it
in. I've now broke 200,000 and running
strong. I made a couple moves via the
Army, from NC to VA, then to OK, then to
KY, back to VA, then eventually to AK. I
had problems one one of those trips, the
serpentine belt broke. Easy 15 minute fix
and I was back on the road. I just had to
do about $2,000 in repairs, but those were
overdue and caused by my lack of
maintenance. Won't happen again. I've
sworn to my wife I will keep my baby till
I die.
